Sacred Heart
Catholic Preschool
Miss Bee Polite buzzes around
our classroom looking for good manners and friendly smiles.

Sacred Heart Catholic Preschool is committed to providing an opportunity for young children (age 3-6) in our parish and community to play, learn, grow, and develop in a Christian atmosphere. This preschool ministry will seek to lay a foundation of faith and education that will assist in the formation of conscientious adults.

We believe faith development begins at home, but is supported by our parish family. We believe that children need daily opportunities to live their faith.

We believe the entire center community includes the children, families, and parishioners. We all share the responsibility for educating, caring for, and ensuring the safety and security of each child that we serve.

We believe that each child is a gift from God and has the ability and the right to learn and grow in the faith.

We believe that family is the number one critical element needed for fostering the faith.

We believe that parents are the first teachers of their children. They should be involved and informed of the educational process.

We believe that parents deserve the support of the parish family in the faith formation of their children.

We believe that teachers/staff should be examples of the love of Jesus through the Christian lives that they lead. They must be committed to the philosophy of our school. Teachers/staff should also be qualified professionally and committed to continuing development of skills, methods, and theories of education.

We believe that our curriculum should be age-appropriate, meeting all the needs of all of our children: physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual.

We believe that the curriculum should be evaluated periodically to ensure continued development.

We believe instruction and assessment should reflect the curriculum and be periodically evaluated. Information regarding instruction and assessment should be provided to parents.

We believe current research in the areas of brain development and differentiated instruction should help to guide our planning.

We are accountable to children, parents and families, the parish, the diocese, ourselves, and ultimately to God.

Mission Statement
Welcome
Philosophy of Sacred Heart Catholic Preschool
The staff of Sacred Heart Preschool strives to provide a secure and nurturing environment for our little ones. Each child and each family is a gift from God and will be treated with love and respect. Love of God and others will be taught through our daily activities with games, art, music, field trips, special events, and the study of God’s world.

This preschool meets the accreditation standard and criteria of the Missouri Nonpublic Accrediting Association.

We will strive to:

1.  Provide opportunities for children to grow in their knowledge and love of God.

2.  Provide an atmosphere in which children can mature emotionally and continue to develop and maintain a positive self-concept.

3.  Provide an environment of stimulating opportunities that will encourage the cognitive development of each child.

4.  Encourage children in the development of social awareness and social skills by providing a variety of interactions throughout the daily routine.

5.  Provide opportunities for children to strengthen and coordinate large and small muscles in a variety of physical activities.

6.  Maintain an environment in which children have the opportunity to make choices, carry out their own plans, and review their experiences.

7.  Provide a positive and developmentally appropriate educational environment that will prepare the children to enter kindergarten.
